2018 Sept 22nd Mt Eden Swimming Club level 2 meet

Meet report kindly submitted by Coach Max

12 of our L2 swimmers attended this meet which took longer than anticipated due to a fire alarm causing the whole of West Wave to be emptied out and our swimmers having to stand around in the cold until the all clear was given.

As a result by the end of the meet we were an hour behind time.

Highlight of the meet had to be Amos Yin going under the 1-minute barrier in the 100 free to qualify for level 1. Congratulations. Perhaps now he will stop doubting his swimming ability!

Nolan Zhou and Liam Marks opened the batting for our team immediately after our fire drill and I think this reflected in their results in this event. They perked up as the meet progressed with Nolan getting a 4.95 PB in the 50 free and Liam finishing the day with a 6.89 PB in the 100 free.

Lillie and Jazmin Carter opened with 8 second PB’s in the 100 Breast and moved to within 5.5 seconds (Lillie) and 9.78 seconds (Jazmin) of L1 in the 100 back with Paikea Cecil also moving to 6.31 seconds off L1 in the same event.

Others finishing less than 10 seconds away from L1 were Tina Liang (9.18, 100 free) and Alyssa Wangford (8.35, 100 fly and 9.27 100 free).

Milla Eckford and Sam Latu swam well but missed out on PB’s while Caleb and Elijah Yin swam well for a PB in every race.

With 6 firsts, 4 seconds and 4 thirds in age against some very good opposition our team can be well pleased with themselves.

With only 50’s and 100’s the pace was fast and furious and our Team Manager on the day (Yoko Wangford) was kept on her toes throughout the meet. Thank you, Yoko.
