2017 New Zealand Junior Festival Feb17-Feb 19

Congratulations to all our swimmers who took part in this year’s NZ Junior festival. A fantastic effort by all, our small team of 8 scored a total of 816 points combined. The boy’s team ranked 11 and our girls’ team ranked 9 overall. It was a great weekend of fabulous personal best times and tough racings.  A total of one gold, one silver and 3 bronzes plus 43 Pbs achieved.

In addition, our 11 years old mixed relay team came 6th in the 12 years & under 4 x 50M Free Relay and Medley Relay.

It was also fantastic to see our young Mt Welly swimmers competing with the top Clubs with the incredible team spirit and confidence.  All the swimmers did extremely well.

Five swimmers ( Sunny, Cornor , Alyssa , Maria and Courtney ) with 100% Pb times. 

The top spot had to go Maria who put up an awesome performance by winning the 50M Breast stroke in a very tough race and a silver medal in the 50 Fly.

Courtney also swam brilliantly throughout the meet by winning two Bronze medals in the 50M & 200M Freestyle.

Both girls had achieved over 400’s Fina points in their races. Courtney got the top score of 467 Fina points in the 50M Freestyle ( 29.94) breaking the 30 sec mark for the first time. Well done Courtney !! you are getting a step closer to the NZ National Development Squad Standard for 12-13 yrs old girl (600 Fina pts of 28.14).

Sunny also put up an outstanding performance by setting 9 Pbs and came third in the 200M Freestyle with a level 1 time.

Very impressive performances and I am very proud of the team. With solid work and the right attitude, I am sure you can all achieve your goals and be the best you can be.
