Meet Report
After a false start, due to a pool shut down on the original date, we finally got to swim this meet last Saturday morning.
The changed date and time meant a number of our original entries could not make it but it also gave the opportunity others to join the team, the end result being a reduced team of 6 swimmers in attendance.
After a term away for netball and only 3 weeks back in the pool, Sia Okach showed she had lost nothing in the break and posted a L2 qualifying time with a 2.21 PB in her first race, the 100 back. As this was a little unexpected I did not pick up her achievement until I sat down tonight to write this report. Sorry Sia.
Milla Eckford followed Sia’s success with one of her own, her 2.21 PB in the 100 breast taking her 1.38 seconds under the L2 qualifying time. Well done Milla.
Our other team members all swam well with Reagan Liang managing a 10.56 PB in the 100IM; the best PB of the day. Sister Linda was the next closest to L2, only 2 seconds away in the 100 back followed by Billie Schuller whose 1.69 PB in the 100 Breast moved her to only 5.8 seconds away from the L2 mark. Finally, Maxximo Ly’s 6.26 PB in the 100 free left him with 9 seconds to take off to reach the L2 target.
The small size of the meet meant there was little time to recover between swims and also kept our Team Manager Chantelle Schuller on her toes.
Papatoetoe Winter Meet
This meet was also swum on Saturday and was attended by Liam Marks who swam a great 100 breaststroke race to record 1:39.73 to squeeze under the L2 qualifying time by 0.27 of a second.
