Meet Report: Parnell L3 – 20 October - St Cuthbert’s Pool

A small team of 7 swimmers entered the Parnell L3 meet at St Cuthbert’s Pool.

Because of the closure of West Wave several clubs from the west zone were in attendance.

Hugo Dougall made a great start to his meet with a 12.47 PB in the 100 free to go 2.24 sec under the L2 qualifying time. Well done Hugo.

Fresh back from a term in Japan Kento Wangford also qualified for L2 with a 20.69 PB in the 200 IM to qualify by 2.06 seconds. This was a very well-judged race and Kento looked good all the way. Well done Kento.

Our other swimmers all swam well with Chavda Filimaea finishing only 1.82 seconds away from level 2 in the 100 free. Alina Chen (50 Fly) and Estelle Hamill (50 Free), in their first outing with the club, swam times which should see them in with chance of L2 if they change to 100m for the next L3 meet.

Reagan Liang and Mylan Zou were under their best performances but the best part of Reagan’s day was that he did not attract the interest of the officials and or once fended up with a clean sheet.

A big thanks to Yoko Wangford who did a great job as Team Manager despite the jet lag.

‘For The Record’ the following were the DQs and warnings issued at the meet:

 Chavda: DQ’s:   100 Back, (a) left position on back during the race,

                         (b) Not on back when leaving the wall at the turn.

           Warnings:  100 IM, (a) Freestyle stroke at the start,

                                             (b) 1 handed touch at end of breast stroke

                                50 Fly, non-simultaneous touch at the turn/finish.

Other Warnings:

Hugo: 4, 100 IM, tumble turn after breast stroke leg,

           9, 100 Back, Double stroke at turn,

          12, 100 Breast, more than 1 butterfly kick at turn.

Mylan: 4, 100 IM, one handed touch at fly.
